The plum can be round or oval and heart-shaped with a woody pit which contains an inedible seed inside. Its skin and pulp are even and intense and it is sweet and juicy.

It is a fruit with fleshy pulp and with a pit in the middle. The skin is smooth and velvety with an even and intense colour that comprises quite all the gradation of yellow to orange or pink depending on the variety. Its fragrant and juicy flesh covers a large range of sweetness being sourer that which have more red-orangey flesh.

They belong to the same botanic species as peaches but have their own particularities. They are smaller and their skin is smooth (without fuzz). They are very fragrant, tastier than peaches; their colour is reddish with shades of orange and yellow. Their firm flesh is pink, yellow or white and it is easy to release it from the pit.
